Aqua Hsu is a filmmaker and photographer based in New York City. His work explores themes of cultural identity, emotional memory, and the bonds between humans and animals. He is currently developing a long-term project that reflects on his Hakka heritage, examining how ancestral traditions can be reimagined in contemporary life.
In addition to documentary work, Aqua also shoots fashion photography. Known for guiding his subjects with empathy, he blends technical precision with narrative depth to create portraits that feel both lively and emotionally resonant.
His academic background includes a BA in Radio and Television from National Chengchi University in Taiwan and a Master in Digital Photography at New York’s prestigious School of Visual Arts.
He has exhibited his work in both Taiwan and the U.S., including at TaiwanFest and Gramercy Gallery from SVA. His clients span independent fashion designers, local organizations, and creative studios across Asia and North America.
